Jaz @ The Crystal Ship 2016

In Ostend Jaz made a mural as a homage to James Ensor. He used different elements from paintings of Ensor, like masks, horses, God,… In this work you can also notice how the artist was influenced by history painting and mythology.

Jaz, the pseudonym of Argentinian Franco Fasoli is known for his large, figurative murals. His murals suggest conflicts which are based on cultural and local traditions. The artist explores identity both personally as culturally in the hybrid creatures that he paints: partially human and partially animal. His compositions are characterized by conflict and duality and often refer to popular culture and local traditions, with a special emphasis on Latin American themes. He uses a variety of materials to create his artworks, like acrylics, latex paint and collage technique.
